Who we are

Hi I’m Stephanie! I am an occupational therapist by trade since 2014 and became a mother in May 2020 early in the Covid pandemic. My second child was born May 2022 and six months later I was diagnosed with postpartum depression. Fast forward two+ years later I continue to struggle with what is now labeled as treatment resistant depression.

Motherhood can be so hard sometimes. And for me, play spaces, jungle gyms, and other kid-centric activities often leave me feeling exhausted and even bored. I cherish my kids, but let's be honest, keeping up with them in open play settings can be depleting. At the same time, when I attempt to socialize with families in my favorite cafes or restaurants, the kids quickly get bored while we're trying to catch up over a cup of coffee or glass of wine. It's frustrating to juggle adult conversation with the demands of wandering toddlers. And they interrupt our conversations, say they want to go home, bang silverware, tell us they’re hungry but reject every item on the menu, etc. That's why I've been dreaming of offering an outlet where parents can relax with friends over a drink, knowing their children are safe and entertained nearby. A place where parents are more of a priority while kids are still happy and supervised.

Parents matter too! Whether on your own or in the company of another parent who “gets it”, isn’t it nice to be able to unwind with less interruption while your kids are also happily occupied? Is that too much to ask? I don’t think so.

Let’s switch things up! Think of Cubby Collective as something new – fun for the adults, fun for the kids, and a community. Cubby Collective will be a different kind of pastime – a vibrant blend of community hub and play. Parenting made a little bit easier and a LOT more fun.

Please sign up for news and updates as I bring Cubby Collective to life!

And share your vision with me on the “Your Input” page.
